Personal experience: my children study in Sweden

The training day at our school begins in the morning

It turns out that in England children go to school in four years, and in a Hungarian kindergarten after lunch they give sandwiches with bacon and onionsIn his special projects dedicated to the specifics of education in different countries of the world, O. Today we're going to Sweden, where lives the mother of two children Irina Erickson, who told us how the schools and kindergartens in this country. My son goes to school, and the younger one goes to kindergarten. The academic year in Sweden begins in the second half of August.

On the same day, children will go to school by decision of the municipality in which they are enrolled, so that in two nearby cities the school year can start on different days.

As a result, school ends at different times, but this usually happens in the first half of June.

Five times a year, children have school holidays: one week in early November, almost three weeks at Christmas, a sports week during the holidays in February, Easter holidays in April, and the summer from June to August.

The kindergarten itself is open all year round, except weekends and holidays. Grade zero children learn first, but the older they get, the later they finish their lessons. If the parents themselves are still studying or working, then the child with whom the day group works is available: before, i.e. there is a child who can be in the day group. first grade and after school. The garden in our community works with: a. Very soon, we plan to open a night group for children whose mothers and fathers work in shifts. In our community, there can only be one child in kindergarten who works or learns from their parents. If the mother or father is on vacation or does not work at all due to child care, the number of hours during which they can visit the garden is limited. We have these hours, in the wealthiest communities we can offer hours, and in Stockholm we offer hours a week. A child can only stay in the group as long as they are homeless, working, or studying. In some municipalities, you can also call your parents at work and find out their working hours. At school, children get a free hot lunch.

If the child attends the same classes, they offer us Breakfast and afternoon tea.

It can be muesli with yogurt, sandwich or fruit. There is a kitchen in the garden where children can enjoy Breakfast, snacks, lunch and snacks. Children are fed warm food, fruit and milk. I don't know about other communities, but all our food has to be sugar-free, so they are very strict. My husband and I work as parents, so we have this so-called weather. Children whose parents work shifts or work part-time during the week may have a different kindergarten program. We mentioned the child earlier. The group has a special panel where you need to click on the button that appears, after which the child's name lights up in green.

Children do this happily by themselves, enthusiastically looking at the list of his name and even the names of classmates who have already managed to enroll.

Q: the boys are having Breakfast. After Breakfast, the children are divided into groups: One stays at home and works on a project, and the other goes outside. Now our children are participating in a project that is dedicated to the world in which we want to live well, and everything in the garden is visible through this lens. Most of the time is devoted to ecology, for example, children went to the forest collect garbage. But the world in which we want to live well is not only ecological, but also quiet and social relations: Children explain what it means to be a good companion, how to behave properly in the dining room.

During the entire process of photographing and selecting photos, the messenger is placed in the corridor of the projector so that parents can see your child and his companions.

In the hands of parents, photos are not given, and photographing at parties is not allowed.

For example, children in the fifth grade learn earlier

This is due to the fact that photos posted on social networks, for example, may be of a foreign child. This is followed by a lunch. It consists of a main dish, such as meatballs or fish, a side dish (round potatoes, rice, noodles) and a salad (carrots, cabbage, broccoli). After lunch, children usually stay up and go to play on the Playground or in groups.

With good weather, children can spend the whole day outdoors, so kindergarten teachers will be able to get a good tan in April.

Even if the weather is bad, the children will still they go for a walk, not for long. At school, children are about the same as I studied in Sweden many years ago. Of course, there are differences, but not the concept. For example, the math program is a little easier, but the English language is very serious, so in the fifth grade, my son speaks and understands English.

Children work a lot in groups, make group presentations.

There is independent research and problem-solving. Grades have a fifth grade no, they only appear in the classroom, after a large number of national exams in three main subjects: Swedish and English and mathematics. The teacher's total score is shown based on the class test and the exam score. Parents are in constant contact with teachers, the school also needs mobile phones, as well as grandparents in case parents suddenly do not contact them immediately. In many institutions, there is a so-called crisis folder for each child, which contains all the necessary information: Contact numbers, allergies (suddenly having to take medication), and other important information. This year, the children decided to earn money for trips for the entire class. We baked cupcakes for sale and organized a party at the disco. All of this, of course, was happening for children, but parents were taking part in the very best and most supported boys.

In Sweden, teachers are required by law to respect children: for Example, they never disclose the assessment to the entire class, never do crisis analysis sessions.

All this is done on a case-by-case basis, and the learning process also tries to adapt to the needs of each individual child. The school system in Sweden is very flexible: if you haven't had time to learn something now, you can always do it later. It's just a matter of priorities. And how nice that in any situation I can ask the teacher your question, and he will find time for my answer.
